Aggressive Dog Training- Avoiding Common Mistakes

There are many common mistakes that dog owners make when under taking the course of training their aggressive dogs. Aggressive dog training is put into place to assist the animal and their owners in knowing each other’s boundaries. Dogs although intelligent like to have life laid out simply to them, it’s no and yes never maybe, and this is where aggressive dog training comes in.

Giving the dog a command and then a physical instruction alongside that verbal instruction for example: Saying “heel” while walking a dog, and then jerking the leash to pull the dog back. By doing the two things at the same time it confuses the animal, instead of teaching the dog that you want it to heel all it will teach the dog is that you pulling it back on the lead is what heel means. We I am sure as dog owners have all done this at some stage. Simple is the key, one instruction at a time, patience and consistency is the key to any aggressive dog training session.

Claiming an animal’s personal space is also another vital mistake that people make when training a dog or a puppy. No one not even humans can stand an instruction or a command with someone in their faces. It posses to the dog a sign of aggression and is very intimidating. Your dog will not be happy and your working relationship will not be a good one with this sort of controlling behavior towards aggressive dog training.

Confusing commands to a dog is also not going to help in subduing them and making them work towards getting to a trained position in which you can both have a happy family life and enjoy each other’s company. For example make sure that you don’t mix up commands when you tell a dog to get off a piece of furniture don’t say the same command to get the dog to lie down. Down is down and off is off make sure your dog understands them both as separate commands.

Training an animal is time consuming; however it is important that you are always consistent with commands and direction. If you want your dog to enjoy this time with you, you need to make sure that you know before you start training your dog what you want the dog to learn and have a plan of action on how and when you can fit this around your own life.
